WILD & WONDERFUL - JIM CORBETT NATIONAL PARK
Jim Corbett National Park India wildlife tigers elephants Indian bison safari India
As the south west monsoon recedes, India’s wildlife parks open once more to visitors. What a wonderful time to visit one of the oldest, largest and best known national parks in India - the Jim Corbett National Park. What we love about Corbett is the variety of wildlife - from tigers to elephants, leopards to Indian bison, thousands of varieties of birds, rare aquatic animals like the river Otter, and unusual species like the Himalayan Serow... just to name a few.
The other thing we love about Corbett is the vastness of it’s terrain. With five sprawling ranges and zones, there’s always room to explore without falling all over each other. We also love the diversity of activity - from jeep safaris to elephant safaris, bicycling in the buffer zone to nature and bird walks, rafting, angling and more!
Corbett is an excellent example of sustainable conservation and wildlife management. It was the first park to fall under the Project Tiger initiative and has a large population of tigers today. It also has several wild elephants and one of the most endearing sights is to see a herd of adult and baby elephants playing in the river.
Corbett has several excellent safari lodges and experienced naturalists. Trust us, it’s well worth a visit.
