Situated in the northern part of the Decccan Plateau, Hampi is one of the most awe-inspiring and beautiful sites in India. The city was once the capital of an ancient empire. Today it’s picturesque ruins stand poignantly, silhouetted against the enormous red boulders of the Deccan Plateau.

One of several UNESCO World Heritage Sites in India, Hampi is a magical place. Not only is it architecturally amazing, it also has a deep sense of spirituality and tranquility which pervades the atmosphere. That’s why it’s ruins draw yogis, spiritualists and those who simply want to meditate within it’s peaceful environs.

A visit to Hampi is often combined with two other beautiful places of heritage - Badami and Gulbarga, which are also in the northernmost part of the Deccan Plateau, in the state of Karnataka. A variety of new and luxurious resorts have recently opened doors, making this a destination worth staying in for at least 3-4 nights.
