Pangong Tso is a beautiful lake, icy and serene. Truly spiritual, it’s the perfect place to go and reflect upon the beauty of the universe. High up at the roof of the world in the mountain kingdom of Ladakh, this gorgeous lake is just a short drive away from the capital city, Leh. Surrounded by towering mountains, you almost feel like you’re nestled within a cocoon of natural beauty.

While visiting Pangong, you may see several rare species of birds and animals that inhabit these harsh Himalayan climes. The Himalayan Ibex, wild yaks and Golden Eagles are just a few of the beautiful creatures you might find. Head further into Ladakh, deep into the Rumbak Valley, the lair of the Snow Leopard and the Himalayan Brown Bear.

Summer is an excellent time to explore Ladakh’s culture. Visit ancient monasteries including Lamayuru, one of the oldest. Lamayuru served as a resting place for traveling monks and also a neutral ground where feudal kings negotiated treaties with one another. The Lamayuru festival takes place in July 2019 and is not to be missed. Vivid and colourful masked dances that portray the customs of it’s ancient school of Buddhism take place. Over 150 monks are resident here throughout the year. Later in September, the Hemis Festival takes place in Leh.
