Pondicherry Beaches Auroville French Quarter Promenade Quaint churches Temple of the Mother Chennai India Acme voyages
Just a short drive down the coast from Chennai, Pondicherry has a timeless charm. The lure of it’s beaches, the multi-cultural vibe of Auroville, and the contrast of the French Quarter with the rest of this South Indian city gives it a lovely vibe. You could spend hours wandering it’s streets. Stroll down the promenade. Stop for a delectable buttery croissant (secret recipe!) and coffee before heading through the historic center. As you wander through quaint churches, charming temples, and plenty of shops, galleries and bookstores the day passes in no time at all. Enjoy a delicious lunch. A dosa perhaps (similar to a crepe) or light fluffy idli rice cakes with spicy lentil soup? After a relaxing afternoon head down towards the beach for a stroll in the evening.
Visit Auroville and the labyrinthine community that spreads around it. Auroville is an amazing Utopian concept, and is worth a visit. If you like, visit the Temple of the Mother, or indulge yourself in a little yoga or natural healing. An Ayurvedic massage is a great way to relax and unwind.
