LIVING THE WILD LIFE - KANHA NATIONAL PARK
Kanha National parks
Kanha is one of India’s largest and most beautiful national parks. Dense forest and beautiful rolling meadows, tranquil waterbodies and tremendous biodiversity make it a haven for wildlife aficionados. Kanha is famous for it’s big cats - particularly tigers. In fact, Kanha is known to have one of the best tiger gene pools in the world! But tigers are not all - Kanha is home to hundreds of species of flora and fauna. It is known for it’s wide variety of birds and is also home to the Barasingha or Swamp Deer, which is a critically endangered species. What we also like about Kanha is that the vast territory allows for enough room to move without running into other vehicles - allowing you to experience the forest at it’s best. Accommodations in Kanha are excellent and we work with several high quality safari lodges, to create a memorable jungle experience. Kanha has some of the best naturalists in the country who go out of their way to reveal the secrets of the jungle to our guests. Definitely a highlight on our bucketlist and well worth the visit at least once in a lifetime.
WHEN TO VISIT: March - May are excellent times to visit as the animals come out of the undergrowth in search of water. Sightings are excellent at this time, even though the temperatures are high.
WHERE TO STAY: Kanha has several excellent lodges. Some of our favourites include Singinawa, Kanha Earth Lodge, Banjaar Tola and more.
HOW TO GET THERE: The nearest airport for Kanha is Raipur. Acme Voyages’ team will arrange for transport from the airport to the park.
WHY GO? Kanha’s natural beauty and biodiversity are absolutely incredible. Several rare and endangered species can only be seen here. Photography opportunities are excellent and the quality of naturalists is very high.
