Come January and the sky is filled with colour and kites! Makar Sankranti, A day dedicated to the sun's transit into Capricorn. It marks the end of winter and the beginning of warmer weather. The festival is marked with song, dance, laughter and good food - and of course, kite flying that often becomes extremely competitive! In fact, in the western state of Gujarat, the competition is fierce and people bring elaborate kites from across the world to compete with one another.
