COLOURS OF SPRING - HOLI IN RAJASTHAN
Festivals in India
Holi is celebrated universally throughout India and marks the onset of Spring. In Rajasthan, where agriculture is a prime source of income, Holi is celebrated with great fanfair! All across the state, people come out for the Holika Dhaan, a massive bonfire ceremony where an effigy of the evil demon queen Holika is burnt. The next day is a riot of colour and laughter as people of all age groups let their hair down and play with coloured powder like little children. From big cities like Jodhpur and Udaipur to smaller destinations like Shahpura, Holi is a fantastic celebration of life - one of everyone should experience at least once in their lifetime!
