Itinerary
Day 1 – Airport / Negombo
Upon arrival at Colombo International Airport, you will be met and assisted by our representative. Transfer to your seaside hotel in Negombo, a lively coastal town known for its fishing heritage and colonial past. The remainder of the day is free to relax after your international journey — enjoy the ocean breeze, stroll along the beach or simply unwind at the hotel.
Overnight in Negombo.
Day 2 – Negombo
This morning, enjoy a gentle boat ride along Negombo’s historic Dutch-built canals, once used to transport spices during the colonial era. Continue with a visit to the traditional fishing village, where colourful catamarans line the shore and daily life revolves around the sea. Discover the town’s strong Catholic heritage, visible through its churches and local communities, and view the Old Dutch Fort from the outside.
The afternoon is at leisure for beach time or personal exploration.
Overnight in Negombo.
Day 3 – Negombo / Sigiriya – Cultural Triangle
Depart inland towards the heart of Sri Lanka’s Cultural Triangle. In the afternoon, climb the iconic Sigiriya Rock Fortress, a UNESCO World Heritage Site rising dramatically from the plains. Explore the remains of the ancient royal citadel, admire the famous frescoes and enjoy panoramic views from the summit over forests and reservoirs.
Check in at your hotel and relax after the visit.

Day 4 – Anuradhapura & Mihintale
Excursion to Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka’s first capital dating back to the 5th century BC. Discover vast monastic complexes, impressive stupas and the sacred Sri Maha Bodhi — the oldest recorded tree in the world, grown from a sapling of the original Bodhi tree.
In the afternoon, visit Mihintale, the birthplace of Buddhism in Sri Lanka, where a series of stone stairways lead to panoramic viewpoints and ancient shrines.
Return to the hotel and overnight.
Day 5 – Polonnaruwa
Explore the remarkably preserved ruins of Polonnaruwa, Sri Lanka’s second ancient capital, ideally by bicycle. Discover royal palaces, audience halls, bathing pools and the majestic Buddha statues of Gal Vihara, carved from a single granite rock. The site is beautifully set amid greenery and lakes, offering a serene atmosphere.
Afternoon at leisure to relax or enjoy the hotel surroundings.
Overnight in the Sigiriya / Polonnaruwa area.
Day 6 – Polonnaruwa / Dambulla Cave Temple / Nalanda Gedige / Matale / Kandy
Depart towards Kandy, stopping en route at the Dambulla Cave Temples, a UNESCO-listed complex of rock caves adorned with Buddhist murals and statues. Continue to Nalanda Gedige, a unique and little-visited stone monument blending Hindu and Buddhist architectural elements.
In Matale, visit a spice garden to learn about Sri Lanka’s renowned spices, followed by a batik workshop showcasing traditional textile techniques.
Arrive in Kandy in the evening and visit the revered Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, one of Buddhism’s most important pilgrimage sites.

Day 7 – Kandy & Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage
Morning visit to Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage, where rescued elephants are cared for. Observe their feeding and, when possible, their river bathing — a memorable wildlife experience.
Return to Kandy for a city tour including the scenic Kandy Lake, local markets and the Kandy Museum, offering insights into the city’s royal heritage. In the evening, enjoy a traditional Kandyan cultural performance featuring drumming and dance.

Day 8 – Kandy / Peradeniya Botanical Gardens / Nuwara Eliya
Visit the Royal Botanical Gardens of Peradeniya, famous for its vast collection of tropical plants and Asia’s largest orchid collection. Continue through winding mountain roads into Sri Lanka’s tea country, with rolling hills blanketed in emerald-green plantations.
Stop at a tea estate and factory to learn about the production of Ceylon tea, followed by a tasting. Arrive in Nuwara Eliya, often called “Little England”, and enjoy a walk around Gregory Lake.

Day 9 – Nuwara Eliya / Ella / Badulla by Train
Drive to Ella and board the iconic hill-country train to Badulla or vice versa, subject to seat availability. This scenic journey is considered one of the most beautiful train rides in the world, passing waterfalls, tea plantations and deep valleys.
Visit the impressive Dunhinda Waterfall before settling in Ella.

Day 10 – Ella Trekking Day
A full day to explore Ella’s stunning natural landscapes. Choose from gentle hikes to Little Adam’s Peak, panoramic viewpoints at Ella Gap, the refreshing Ravana Falls or village walks through rural countryside. The cool climate and relaxed atmosphere make this an ideal day for nature lovers.
Leisurely evening at your own pace.

Day 11 – Ella / Buduruwagala / Yala National Park / Tissamaharama
Depart Ella and visit Buduruwagala, a mysterious site featuring ancient rock-carved Buddha statues set amid jungle surroundings. Continue towards Yala.
In the afternoon, embark on a jeep safari in Yala National Park, home to elephants, deer, crocodiles, monkeys and — with luck — the elusive leopard.
Overnight in Tissamaharama.
Note: Bundala National Park will be substituted if Yala is closed during September–October.
Day 12 – Tissamaharama / Kataragama / South Coast
Morning visit to Kataragama, one of Sri Lanka’s most important multi-faith pilgrimage sites, revered by Buddhists, Hindus and Muslims alike.
Continue to the South Coast and check in to your beach hotel. Time to relax by the Indian Ocean.
Dinner and overnight at the beach hotel.
Day 13 – South Coast Beach Day
A full day at leisure to enjoy the beach and hotel facilities. Optional activities may include swimming, spa treatments or simply relaxing by the sea.
Breakfast and dinner included.

Day 14 – South Coast / Galle / Colombo
Drive north along the coast, passing Weligama where traditional stilt fishermen can sometimes be seen. Visit the UNESCO-listed Galle Dutch Fort, with its charming colonial streets, ramparts and museums.
Continue to Colombo for a city tour, including Pettah Bazaar, Cinnamon Gardens and key landmarks reflecting the capital’s colonial and modern contrasts.
Overnight in Colombo.
Day 15 – Colombo / Airport
After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your departure flight, bringing to an end your comprehensive journey through Sri Lanka’s cultural, natural and coastal highlights.
