Tour Itinerary

Day 01

Breakfast in the Hotel. Drive Kathmandu to Mulkot 95 kilometers about 4 hour drive. Overnight at Taj Riverside Resort or similar hotel

Day 02

Drive Mulkot to Manthali Airport 27 kilometers about 1 hour drive and fly to Lukla [2800 m.] and trek to Phakdingam. Approximately 9 Kilometers and 4 hours trek. Overnight at Local Tea House Lodge.

Flying time from Manthali to Lukla is 25 minutes; when you leave airport you see the Gaurishankar and Menlungtse are particularly striking. Then when you enter the Khumbu region the nose of the plane dips down and you make a thrilling but safe landing at Lukla.

You pass through Lukla with its hotel, teahouse, and general store, beginning a gentle climb up the mountainside on the left bank of the Dudh Koshi. Nupla (5885) which can be seen in the distance on the opposite bank is a peak atop the Kongde Ri ridge. When you descend a mountainside path that merges into this route to Everest, there is a valley that opens to the right; at its far - end you may see Kusum Kang {6367 m}. The Dudh Koshi approaches; you pass a mani wall house. Continue along a small path with many ups / downs that follows the left bank of the Dudh Koshi to Pahakdingma [2600m]. The village is on the left bank, but you must cross the wooden bridge to the right bank for the hotel.

Day 03

Trek to Namche Bazaar [3450 m]. Approximately 12 kilometers and 6 hours trek. Overnight at local Tea House Lodge

As you follow the level path along the right bank from the campsite or hotel, Thamserku [6623 m] looms skyward on the opposite bank. After you cross a stream and climb the terraced hill from the Dudh Koshi route, you arrive at Bemgar. Just you cross a wooden bridge before the village. Climb from the riverbed on the left bank into the mountain, through a forest, arriving at Chumoa. Here there is a vegetable farm managed by Japanese and a hotel as well. Walk along a path with many ups / downs; cross a stream, and pass by the tiny village of Monjo. Descend the path of stone steps and return to the right bank over a wooden bridge. After a short ascend you come to Jorsale where there are a teahouse and hotel. In this village is the National Park Service where a park entrance fee is collected. Walking along the river from Josare, you enter a forested mountainside and pass a rocky area. After crossing a high, trail winding you descend to the riverbed. Following a short walk along the riverbed of this V-shaped valley, the river forks-the right is the Dudh Koshi and the left is the Bhote Koshi that leads to Nampa La. You cross a wooden bridge after going a short distance along the Bhote Koshi and begin the steep ascent to Namche Bazaar. As the mountain path zigzags uphill, you emerge to a ridge top rest area that offers excellent views of Everest [8848 m], and Lhotse [8516m]. The climb eases somewhat, and Namche Bazaar appears ahead as you travel along the path surrounded by pines. You pass the plateau where the Saturday bazaar held, and enter the village and enter the village. Namche Bazaar surrounded on three sides by mountain ranges and opens out only where it faces the Bhote Koshi.

Day 04

Day at leisure.The village is a central hub of the area, having check post, bank, post office, and several hotels.

Day 05

Trek Namche to Thyangboche Monastery [3860 m]. Approximately 10 kilometers and 6 hours trek. Overnight at local Tea House Lodge

After leaving the village and climbing to the top of the ridge, you come to a level mountain path that offers an excellent panorama of Thamserku, Kantega, and Kusum Kang. There is a steep cliff that drops down to the Dudh Koshi to the right, faintly visible on the valley floor below. As you make your way around a branch ridge, Ama Dablam [6812 m], Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse [7855 m], and Tawetse [6501 m] suddenly appear. The mountain path ends after a gentle descent. You come to the fork leading to Gokyo at a teahouse amid rhododendron thickets. Descend past two teahouses and pass through the village of Tashinga, entering a forested area. Though you do not see it, you can hear the roaring Dudh Koshi and soon you descend to the river. When you cross a wooden bridge to the left bank, you arrive at PhunkiTenga.

It is a long climb to Tengboche; the first half is especially steep. As you climb through the forested zone, the incline eases and a splendid view appears. Continue climbing the mountainside diagonally until you come to the stone gate. The Gate built by the Lama of the monastery marks your entry into Tengboche. Tengboche is an important lookout point on this course, and the sunset on Everest and Ama Dablam is especially beautiful.

Day 06

Trek Thyangboche to Periche [4240 m]. Approximately 12 kilometers and 5 hours trek. Overnight at local Tea House Lodge

Leave Tengboche with its representative Himalayan scenery-monastery, chortens, and the Khumbu Mountains as a backdrop-and descend a rhododendron-covered area to emerge to pleasant level area. Pass a long mani stone wall to enter the village of Deboche which has a nunnery. Go on to Minlinggo and leave the mountain path to cross over a suspension bridge to the left bank of the ImjaKhola. You climb the mountain path while looking up at Ama Dablam, and Kantega [6770 m] appears on the opposite bank. As you ascend the chorten-lined route, you come to a fork-the upper path goes by way of Pangboche Terin and a monastery, but you take the lower path goes by way of Pangboche Olin and its stone wall-enclosed potato fields. Pass through village and cross a stream toa trailand skirts a rocky area to terraced hills along the riverbank. Climb past the tree line on a gently sloping path amid low scrub to Orsho. As the south cliffs of Lhotse loom before you, you walk through the rolling pasturage for yaks and come to a fork in the path. The path along the ImjaKhola goes from Dingboche to Chhukhung, but you take the path on the left to Periche. Climb the mountain path from Tsuro Kharka and cross a ridge to a wooden bridge over the stream that flows from Khumbu Glacier. It is an easy climb to Periche where there is a clinic of the Tokyo Medical University; medical problems treated here.

Day 07

Day for acclimatization. Pheriche offers a vista of Tawetse to the left and the unfamiliar back view of Ama Dablam.

Day 08

Trek Pheriche to Lobuje [4930 m]. Approximately 12 kilometers and 6 hours trek. Overnight at local Tea House Lodge.

You leave the village and walk into a grass-carpeted valley to Phuling Karpo where you begin an upward climb. The small mountain of stones and pebbles straight ahead is the terminal moraine of Khumbu Glacier. After fording the stream that emanates from the glacier, you climb to Tukla where there are three hotels. From this point on, you begin to feel the effects of high altitude and each step becomes difficult.

At last! The ascent ends, and you come to a level area where there is a memorial chorten dedicated to sherpas who have met with disaster on Everest. You then wind around a lateral moraine of Khumbu Glacier and enter the zone of ablation. Fording a stream, you walk along a mountainside route with Pumo Ri [7161 m] straight ahead and Nuptse to the right. You arrive at Chili Lobuche.

Day 09

Trek to Kalapathar [5545 m] and back to Gorakshep [5160 m]. Approximately 12 kilometers and7 hours trek. Overnight at local Tea House Lodge

While enjoying the rays of the morning sun on Pumo Ri, you follow a level path through the zone of ablation. Standing atop the moraine after a short climb, you look down upon Khumbu Glacier form the left. Following the footpath, you cut across the rocky Changri Glacier and climb up the lateral moraine on the opposite bank. Straight ahead is Kalapathar and below is Gorakshep. You descend diagonally down the moraine to the level area of Gorakshep with its two stone huts. Even if you walk very slowly in the morning from Lobuche you will arrive about noon. After lunch if you are feeling well, you may climb to Kalapathar. The climb is very difficult in the beginning because the first incline is extremely steep. While the angle of incline eases after the first hill, it is still a very long walk. As you head for the col on rocky ridge to the right is the highest viewpoint at 5545 meter but the ridge on the left is not much lower. The view from either ridge is splendid enough to make you forget difficult climb. Long awaited Everest and Nuptse-the world’s highest peaks- and Ama Dablam, Kantega, Thameserku, and Tawetse to the south together with Pumo Ri above and extending to China’s Changtse [7553 m] – all from a magnificent 360 degree panorama.

Day 10

Trek to Everest Base Camp [5346 m] and retrace back to Lobuje. Approximately 12 kilometers and 8 hours trek. Overnight at local Tea House lodge

Pass in - front of a kharka and cross an old T - lateral moraine; go along the zone of ablation and Lake and emerge on the right bank of Khumbu Glacier. Walk for a short while along a rocky area onto the glacier; then follow footpaths and cairns to the center of the glacier. To the left you look up to Pumo Ri and to the right Nuptse. You make your way through ice pinnacles and plateaus and finally arrive at Mt. Everest Base Camp near Pumo Ri. Straight ahead is the jagged ice fall; it is a desolate world enclosed by walls of rock and ice. The return trip to Lobuche is approx 4 hours.

Day 11

Retrace back to Dingboche. Approximately 12 kilometers and 6 hours trek. Overnight at local Tea House Lodge.

Continue downhill to Pheriche. Continue down moraine to Dughla and drop to the bridge over the gushing stream that flows out of the glacier. We will trek down through the hillside blanketed by rhododendron and juniper trees. Looking east of the Dingboche village, you’ll see the snowcapped mountains and summits of Island and Imja peak.

Day 12

Retrace back to Thyangboche. Approximately 12 Kilometers and 6 hours trek. Overnight at local Tea House Lodge

Walk down to Tengboche(3,867m), sits on a saddle at 3870m in a clearing surrounded by dwarf fires and rhododendrons, Kwongde (6187m) Tawache(6542m) Everest (8848m) Nuptse (7855m) Lhotse (8618m) Amadablam (6856m) Thamserku (6608m) providing an inspiring panorama of Himalayan giants. We visit the monastery at Tengboche, the largest in the Khumbu region. Tengboche is a small village with a famous monastery offering you splendid views of Mt. Amadablam, lush green hills and river views. Dense wildlife of some species of Pheasants, Himalayan Griffons, Musk deer and wild goat are abundance inside the rhododendron forest.

Day 13

Retrace back to Jorsali. Approxmiately 12 kilometers and 8 hours trek. Overnight at local Tea House Lodge

From Tengboche the trail crossing the suspension bridge over the Dudh Koshi River trek onwards to the Kyanjuma the junction of the trinity ways to Gokyo Valley, Khumjung village, and Namche Bazaar. Evening explores a small surrounding area with magnificent scenery. The direct route descends Phunki Thanga, and again ascends the ridge towards Namche Bazaar. The direct route to Namche Bazaar turns south and traverses along the side of the ridge. This avoids a lot of climbing, but it is a long walk in and out of side valleys. From Namche it is a steep descent to Dudh Koshi River at Jorsali.

Day 14

Retrace back to Lukla. Approximately 10 Kilometers and 5 hours trek. Overnight at local Tea House Lodge.

This approximately 4 hour walk. The trail from Jorsali to Lukla follows the upward route as far as Chablung, turns off towards Lukla. The broad trail leading uphill to the left climbs steadily past a few shops then through scrub forest above the school and houses of Chauri Kharka. There is a collection of houses and shops after a steep final climb in Tamang settlement a short distance from Lukla Airport. As you approach to LuklaAirstep the houses and lodges rapidly proliferate.

Day 15

Fly back to ManthaliRamechhap and drive back to Kathmandu. If the weather good then we would fly back to Ramechhap well on time in 25 minutes and drive about 4 hour to Katmandu, if not then could be a bad dream. Often the flight is subject to weather factors.
